ABOUT ME
Hi, I am Alyssa Syrdal and I am the owner and primary clinician at Juniper Therapy. I specialize in working with children, adolescents and their families. My background and training include a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, Washington and a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. I have been working with children, adolescents and their families across all aspects of life for many years.

My journey to where I currently am as a therapist began with my background in early childhood development and years of working with children with special needs and their families. Alongside my work with children with special needs I studied and gained great understanding and experience in working with those struggling or in recovery for an eating disorder, disordered eating, or body image concerns. In recent years I have done extensive work with children and their families regarding trauma processing, behaviors and other emotional disturbances.
My theoretical framework when working with clients comes from being a person-centered therapist. I fully believe that every human being strives for and has the capacity to fulfill their own potential and it is an honor for me to witness. Viewing every client through the person-centered lens allows me to give my clients the power to be their own expert in who they are and what they are capable of. I also utilize many techniques and types of treatment based on each client and their individual needs such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), mindfulness, play therapy, psychodynamic and gestalt.
When I am not working, I find my greatest happiness in life spending time with my beautiful family.
